Tennis players in the district can now use a brand-new gated access system installed this week to ensure they can book in advance and continue to play their sport over the winter months.
In partnership with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), Warwick District Council has introduced a new online booking and gated access system at Victoria Park tennis courts in Royal Leamington Spa, enabling players to book ahead and reserve a court.
These changes will also give the ability to book floodlights during the evening and allow access to the courts 7 days a week. Players will have the opportunity to try out the new booking system this week, as no charge will be taken up until end of Sunday 11 December.
Players just need to set up an account on the Clubspark website and then complete a free registration with the LTA's Rally platform. Once registered, users select their preferred date and play, after which they will be emailed a gate access code to gain entry.
From Monday 12 December, charges will apply to the courts at Victoria Park:
- £3 per court per hour for concession users
- £6 per court per hour for adults
- Plus an additional £4 per court per hour for floodlights
There will also be a selection of free bookable courts throughout the week.
Cllr Judy Falp, Portfolio Holder for Safer Communities, Leisure & Environment, said:
"This new booking system at Victoria Park will provide our local tennis players with a guaranteed slot and the ability to play floodlight tennis all year round. In addition, the new system will avoid any disappointment of the courts already being in use on their arrival if they turn up to compete against their friends and family."
Players who cannot book online will be able to ring 01926 456207 to book their court.
