This was part of the nationwide ‘Green Canopy’ project marking the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The day was chosen as it was the seventieth day of the seventieth anniversary of the Queen’s accession. The Council’s civic leaders and representatives joined their contemporaries from across the country to plant a Prunus avium Plena (wild cherry) and Robinia Pseudoacia (acacia) in memory of the occasion. 

Chairman, Councillor Neale Murphy commented:

It was an honour to plant this tree today as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. We are proud to have taken part in this national project which we hope will encourage us all to recognise the importance of trees in supporting wildlife, improving our health and reducing our carbon footprint.”   

Jenny Heath added:

“On behalf of myself and family I would like to thank Warwick District Council for asking me to plant this tree in Tony’s memory. He would have been so proud to have been part of this nationwide Green Canopy Project marking the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and for it to be one of his favourite trees, makes it even more special.”
