‘Inspirational’, ‘uplifting’ and ‘energising’ was the overwhelming response from the 338 delegates who attended last month’s Spark symposium organised by Warwick District Council’s Arts team.
Returning to the Royal Spa Centre on the 11 February following last year’s virtual event, Spark Ignite was an opportunity for anyone involved in the arts, digital or creative sector to enjoy a lively programme of presentations, discussions, networking opportunities exhibitions and performance.
Councillor Liam Bartlett, Portfolio Holder for Culture, Tourism and Leisure, said:
“It was so rewarding to have such a diverse group of passionate individuals and organisations under one roof again. Following the pandemic, the need to galvanise our creative businesses and community into positive action is greater than ever and this event provided the perfect platform for this.”
David Guilding Arts Manager added:
“We know that there is a wealth of creativity in the area, but the opportunities for people to engage has been limited over the past two years. I was therefore delighted that Spark 2022 has reignited previous connections and ‘ignited’ new collaborations. We know that one event isn’t going to solve all the challenges faced by this sector, but it was definitely a big step in the right direction.”
As well as finding out more about the area’s creative scene and the ways that they can help to grow the sector, the audience were also given a preview of plans for this summer’s CultureFest, a month-long celebration of the District’s arts, heritage and culture taking place across Leamington Spa, Warwick, Kenilworth and Whitnash from 16 July to 21 August as a backdrop to the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
