There was some uplifting news for teams from Warwick District Council at the recent Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) awards, following a challenging year.
The Awards which recognise the very best in local government frontline services across the UK saw Warwickshire County Council and partners (the County’s five Borough and District Council and Police) win the category for the ‘Best Collaborative Working Initiative’ for the support given to local businesses during the pandemic.
Amongst the multi-agent teams from across the County who were commended for their outstanding contribution were service areas from Warwick District Council including Environmental Health, Community Safety and Housing.
From the outset of the national emergency the teams have been at the forefront of providing advice on new procedures, measures and risk assessments to local businesses and the community ensuring that there was consistency and support when needed.
Warwick District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Community Protection Councillor Judy Falp said:
“I am really pleased to see that the hard work and dedication of my Warwick District Council colleagues has been recognised at a national level. The focus of the teams has always been on supporting businesses and community groups in navigating the legislation and requirement and working closely with our partners to ensure that their staff and customers were safe. Although some teams and individuals were more involved in the County Council partnership than others, throughout the pandemic all Council staff have truly stepped up and played their part in our response.”
