At the Annual Council meeting held on 20 May, outgoing Chairman Councillor George Illingworth handed the chain of office (virtually) to Councillor Martyn Ashford.
Councillor Martyn Ashford was duly elected as Chairman of Warwick District Council and Councillor Pam Redford was elected as Vice-Chair.
Although the online proceedings were very much a first for the Council, the new Chairman Councillor Ashford kept with tradition in naming his chosen Chairman’s Charity for the coming year as the British Heart Foundation;
Councillor Ashford commented;
“As your newly elected Chairman of Warwick District Council, I have chosen the British Heart Foundation. I feel it’s important to support this charity because heart disease affects more people in the UK than any other condition. I am therefore aiming to raise funds during my year in office to support their drive to encourage healthier lifestyles which will prolong life spans by many years.”
