Following the success of the England cricket team, next week it is the turn of England’s bowlers to pitch themselves against visiting Australian national teams.
The Australian bowls and para bowls teams arrived in Leamington on Monday for some early preparation at Victoria Park for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. During their two week visit they will be playing home nation teams from Ireland, Scotland and England. This is the second consecutive year that the “Jackaroos” have visited Victoria Park demonstrating just how seriously this nation takes their preparations for the 2022 Games.
Warwick District Council and Royal Leamington Spa Bowling Club have been liaising with the visiting teams to ensure that they get a warm welcome to Victoria Park and are able to make the most of the opportunity for some high quality bowling.
Warwick District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Culture, Cllr Moira-Ann Grainger commented;
"We are very pleased to once again welcome Bowls Australia to Victoria Park and hope the teams are enjoying some exciting, yet friendly competition. The timing of this visit is perfect as it comes just days before Warwick district’s ‘3 years to go’ countdown to the Commonwealth Games on 27 July, which is being celebrated in Warwick, with a family fun event at St John’s Museum and St Nicholas Park."
