Warwick District Council approved its 2025/26 budget on 19 February, alongside a 2.99% council tax rise (11p/week for Band D) to fund services and key projects in line with its corporate strategy.
This decision means that from April a Band D household will pay Warwick District Council £187.60 a year in council tax (compared to £182.15 in 2024/25), with the District Council taking just 8% of the total bill and the remaining share going to Warwickshire County Council (77%), Warwickshire Police (13%), Town and Parish Councils (2%). Services provided by the District Council include waste and recycling collections, maintaining parks and public buildings, environmental health and protection, planning and building control, council housing, housing support and street cleaning.
Warwick District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Finance, Cllr Jonathan Chilvers comments:
“Set against an uncertain economic environment, ongoing cost of living crisis and a falling share of Council tax revenue, we are proud of our efforts to balance our books during this financial year, whilst continuing to provide our residents with the services they value so much. Careful budgeting will also allow us to continue with our ambitious future plans to facilitate the delivery of high-quality, energy-efficient council homes within the district for those on all incomes, roll out our low-cost low carbon energy strategy and maintain and improve our parks and public spaces.
I’m also pleased we were able to carefully invest in extra fly tipping collection again to go alongside our strengthened enforcement and provide funding to address anti-social behaviour through the work of our excellent community wardens. Our funding allocation for events in Warwick, Kenilworth, Leamington and Whitnash town centres, will help bring extra joy and footfall and support our excellent town-centre businesses.”
