At their meeting on Thursday 2 November, Warwick District Council’s Cabinet agreed that the project to redevelop the Abbey Fields Swimming Pools should proceed subject to the recommendations made by the Council’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee (to provide greater assurance and value for money) and approval from Full Council on 15 November to release the additional finance required in order to enter into a revised contract with the main contractor.
Leader of the Council Cllr Ian Davison commented:
“Cabinet’s difficult decision to continue with the project on the current site is in my view the least-worst option in terms of value for money, I am however looking forward to progressing with these exciting new facilities, which will bring much needed swimming provision to the heart of Kenilworth. We will now put this recommendation to Full Council and continue with our negotiations to drive down costs as much as possible.”
Further information on this project can be found on the Kenilworth leisure centre developments web page.
