Following the closure of the Radford Road footbridge to Newbold Comyn, a team from the Council has been carrying out an in-depth assessment of the work needed to bring the bridge back into public use.
This evaluation includes plans to make temporary repairs to the current structure in the short term, with future options to be considered by the Council for a replacement bridge.
Councillor Will Roberts, Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood Services commented:
“We would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while this busy and important access point remains closed. The welfare of the public remains our top priority and whilst we are making every effort to reopen the footbridge as soon as possible, this will not take place until it is safe for all users.”
Pedestrians are advised to continue to use the alternative entrances to Newbold Comyn from the Willes Road or Newbold Terrace East.
The Council will be providing further updates and information in the coming days.
