Councillors and officers have extended their good wishes to staff and students who this week walked through the doors of their brand-new facilities at Glasshouse Lane in Kenilworth for the first time.
The new 2,200 pupil Kenilworth School and Sixth Form costing £45.6m is the largest school-build project in England, which thanks to the support of Warwick District Council has been enabled through S106 developer contributions and housing infrastructure funds, having received no direct funding from the government or local education authority.
Leader of Warwick District Council, Councillor Ian Davison commented:
“After almost ten years of hard work and planning it is wonderful to see this new school and community facility up and running, providing a first class learning and teaching environment for Kenilworth and the wider district, which will stand the test of time.
"I want to pay tribute to the dedication and professionalism of all those who have made this happen, clearly demonstrating what forming positive partnerships can achieve.”
Vice Chair of KMAT Trustees, Richard Hales added:
“There were many occasions over the last ten years when we thought the project might not be able to be delivered, but seeing the stunning new buildings fully open makes me extremely grateful to all those who have supported the school especially our advisers, the Governors and Trustees, the School executive team and our partners Warwick District Council.”
