Arts Project Grants
Entrust Care Partnership
This project, together with The ImagiMill will explore imagination and fantasy through interactive storytelling enabling children and young people (who have a disability) to express their individual creativity as part of the story. The anticipated age range is eight to twelve years and will retain some flexibility with the upper age range. The three Workshops will culminate in an artistic showpiece for family and friends.
Leamington Music
Leamington Music are programming the internationally renowned group Raga Garage, a unique ensemble with a blend of Indian Carnatic & European classical sounds, layered & embellished with contemporary folk, pop, and jazz ornamentations, & topped up with exotic & ethnic rhythms. Raga Garage is a mixing pot of many Indian & European influences culminating in a sound both new & unique. Raga Garage will be appearing for the first-time at the Royal Pump Rooms on 14 March 2025 for an evening concert. The band have also agreed to work closely with the local community & will deliver 7 workshops/performances in & around Leamington and Warwick. Each workshop will give participants the opportunity to listen & learn about the Indian Classical music tradition.
Arts Uplift
Arts Uplift are being awarded an Arts Project Grant towards their Movement to Music workshops one of the latest initiatives of Ageing Well, a programme designed to promote health and wellbeing, with a focus on dementia-friendliness. Weekly sessions offer a chance to discover the joy of moving along to well-loved and familiar tunes, connecting with others, and enjoying refreshments over a chat in a comfortable and friendly setting. Jenny Davis Executive Director of Arts Uplift says: “There is so much evidence to show that movement to music has a big part to play in helping people - including those with dementia - to live happy and fulfilled lives. It’s also great for breathing, posture and mental stimulation as well as being hugely enjoyable.”
Sonrisa Arts
Sonrisa Arts are being awarded an Arts Project Grant to deliver workshops for children and families who are living in socio-economically deprived areas of Leamington with limits or no access to arts activity. Led by a professional dance artist, children (aged 3-6), with their parent/carer will take part in dance, movement and music using fun props and games to explore themes related to the dark including dancing with lights, bedtime rituals and songs. The workshops will be linked to Sonrisa Arts’ new show, Dance in the Dark. Workshop attendees will have the opportunity to see the show, including their siblings, peers and other family members/carers.
Playbox Theatre
Playbox Theatre will be leading 3 weeks of creative holiday workshops at The Dream Factory in Warwick. These sessions will range from 1/2-day imaginative workshops for preschoolers, through to week-long performance courses for more senior young people. Playbox will be offering a breadth of programmes including musical theatre; stage combat; drama school approaches; Film & TV workshops; Shakespeare amongst others. The funding will support several places throughout the summer to young people who would really benefit from participation, but who are unable to attend, due to financial constraints.
