Arts Project Grants
Motionhouse
Motionhouse’s Care to Dance? had a significant and positive impact on the residents of The Sycamores, generating excellent feedback from staff, the residents and their families. The sessions were enjoyable for both the residents and for the Dance Artist leading, and clear progress could be seen in the sessions. During the final workshop session, two Motionhouse dancers joined in the session and then performed one of their breathtaking duets, Knot, to entertain and inspire the residents and care home staff. Family members also came along to watch and shared special moments with their loved ones.
Escape Arts
Developed a pilot project to provide a deeper engagement with music for patients the community at Warwick Hospital and to look at the wellbeing benefits that can bring. They shared music at Warwick Hospital for staff, patients and visitors to support wellbeing and distraction from the environments of the hospital. On patient, waiting for an appointment said “You have transported me to another place! I feel like I should be in on holiday in a posh hotel or a cocktail lounge, not waiting at the hospital.”
A musician working on the project, also said "At every lunchtime concert I was part of, we would have a conversation with someone, sometimes several different people, who were drawn to the room by the music. They would often listen to one or two songs, but then want to talk about music, sharing stories about loved ones, musical performances they have attended, their favourite songs."
