2. Programme of Art
2.1 Very Much Alive! by Sonrisa Arts
Very Much Alive! is an exciting rootsy acoustic trio playing brand new original heartfelt songs, which blend nylon Spanish guitar and infectious Latin inspired rhythms with mellow flute and soulful vocals.
This show takes you on an exhilarating journey through the emotions with onstage banter and captivating songs, which one minute pull at your heart strings and the next have you tapping your feet and daring you to join in.
Sonrisa, the trio, comprises, Kath on lead vocals and flute, Ant on acoustic guitar and vocals and Tom on percussion. The majority of songs are written by Ant and Kath, with a handful of traditional and well-known numbers, arranged with Sonrisa's distinctive sound and approach to music and performance.
2.2 Knot by Motionhouse

Knot sees two dancers using extreme physicality, complex lifts and contact choreography, to explore the many facets of human relationships through physical expression. Twisting and turning, the balance shifts from one dancer to the other as they use their physicality to express their emotions. Inspired by Salvador Dali’s ‘Metamorphosis of Narcissus’, Knot asks questions about who we are, delving into our inner lives and our relationships with others.
Leamington-based Motionhouse was founded in 1988 by Louise Richards and Kevin Finnan MBE. They create world class dance-circus productions that tour extensively to rave reviews across the globe. From full-length productions for theatre touring to flexible work for the outdoors and large-scale performance events, their sell-out productions integrate athletic physicality, powerful narrative, incredible digital imagery and emotive sound scores.
2.3
Işık Dalgaları by James Braddell
Warwick-based James Braddell, aka Funki Porcini, will light the Hammam with an assortment of refracted lasers that would give a watery appearance that changes with music composed for the event. The installation is inspired by his new touring show The Laserium.
2.4 Nine by Gayatri Pasricha
Gayatri Pasricha is reimagining the work Nine for Ignite 2023. Nine aims to raise awareness on organ donation in the Sikh community. Death tends to be a sensitive matter so Gayatri wanted to concentrate on the idea of service, which is an ideal in the religion. She used bright colours and patterns to showcase the positivity. The subject for these illustrations was based on the ideas of service-taken from religious text, famous stories, charitable Sikhs in history. This is accompanied by quotes taken from The Guru Granth Sahib, central holy religious scripture of Sikhism.
Nine pieces of work were created with a backdrop of each organ to convey the idea that one can save nine lives. The artwork was presented as a pack of nine postcards that are being distributed in gurdwaras around the UK.
2.5 Water, water, everywhere... by Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum
Water, water everywhere… celebrates the history and legacy of swimming at the Royal Pump Rooms. For almost 140 years people learnt to swim here and came for exercise or to have fun in the pool with family and friends. These stories, which have seeped into the fabric of the building, have inspired this exhibition. The story of swimming at the Royal Pump Rooms began in 1863 when the large space that is now home to the main gallery was added to the building to house a swimming pool. When it opened the pool was used on alternate days by men and women. However, as swimming increased in popularity, this arrangement soon proved to be inadequate. In 1887 a second, larger pool was added. This is where the library is now situated. Featuring diving platforms and a viewing gallery, it was used by male swimmers and was also used to host swimming galas. The smaller pool became the Ladies’ Pool.
