The Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) provides guidance for developers on when affordable housing will be required on new developments and how much and what type.  Affordable housing is housing for eligible people whose needs are not met by the market and can include social rented housing or housing for sale or rent below the market value.  The SPD provides further guidance to the Local Plan policies SC11 and RAP4.

It was adopted on 11th January 2008, following a period of public consultation on a draft between 31st August and 12th October 2007. The Council's Executive on 10th December 2007 resolved to incorporate changes as a result of the consultation exercise and adopt the SPD.
