Under Section 8(2) of the Local Audit and Accountability Act (2014) the Council must publish a notice relating to the appointment of its external auditor.

At its meeting on 25 January 2017, Warwick District Council approved the proposal for the Council to 'opt in' to the Sector Led body, Public Sector Auditor Appointments (PSAA), as the means through which  the Council's new external auditors would be procured from the financial year 2018/19. PSAA are now responsible for appointing and managing the Council's external audit contract arrangements.

Under Regulation 13 of the Local Audit (Appointing Person) Regulation 2015, an appointment has been made by PSAA, as the appointing person, which was approved by PSAA Board at its meeting on 14 December 2017.

Pursuant to this process, and following a consultation with the Council by PSAA on the proposed appointment, Grant Thornton (UK) LLP has been appointed as the external auditor to the Council for the period 2018/19 to 2022/23.
