Risks facing the council are managed in order that services can be provided safely, securely and effectively.
Risks are recorded on risk registers. These documents specify, for each risk, the possible causes and consequences and the mitigating actions and controls. Each risk is assigned a risk owner and assessed in terms of its likelihood and impact.
Strategic risks are monitored quarterly by the council’s senior management team and by elected members.
Operational risks are monitored by the heads of service and team managers.
The council’s risk management strategy sets out the approach to managing risk and is reviewed annually by councillors.
