Are you registered to vote?

As a student, you are able to register at home and at your term-time address, so wherever you are on election day, you can have your say. It's important to register to ensure that you are able to vote, especially if a snap election is called, as we have seen in recent years.

There are other good reasons to register - Did you know that credit reference agencies use the Register of Electors to confirm your address? If you're not registered, then you may experience problems obtaining credit now or later in life.

How to register

The easiest and simplest way is to register online. Visit the Gov.uk website for more information and to register.

Can I vote twice?

You can't vote twice in a UK Parliamentary, Scottish Parliamentary, National Assembly for Wales or European Parliamentary election. You would be committing an offence if you voted twice.

However, you can vote in a local government election at home and at your term-time address if they are in different local government areas.
