As part of the street cleansing operation, Warwick District Council provides additional leaf clearance in the late Autumn (typically from early November to late December – depending on leaf fall). The clear up takes place on those streets with high numbers of highway trees and which are particularly affected by seasonal leaf fall.
This annual operation is carried out in addition to regular street cleaning work which should also remove fallen leaves from footpaths and road channels.
All of the road sweepings we collect, including the leaves every Autumn, are sent to a recycling facility in Coleshill. The road sweepings are separated into sand, washed aggregate and composite material for use in other industries. The recycled sand and aggregates can be used in road construction, as pipe bedding materials or blended with rock salt and used as grit on roads in the winter months.
