Litter bins
There is a network of over 1,200 litter bins across Warwick district, located on the street and in parks and open spaces. The bins are emptied on varying frequencies depending on their location and usage. This schedule is normally sufficient to ensure that litter bins don't overflow. There are times when bins fill up faster than we can empty them. When this happens we simply ask that you find another litter bin, or take your rubbish home with you and recycle (where possible), or dispose of it with your household rubbish.
We are unable to keep increasing litter bin numbers or emptying frequencies due to the costs and resources involved. A new litter bin costs roughly £450 to purchase and install and has an additional ongoing cost of emptying that bin. The total cost of emptying litter bins in Warwick district is currently around £430,000 per year.
We provide additional resource over the busy summer period, particularly in parks and open spaces, to help keep the district clean and tidy. During this period, there are additional teams working to empty litter bins more frequently and keep areas free of litter, among other duties.
