Basic map functionality
The zoom control is in the top left hand corner of the map
The ‘Zoom In’ and ‘Zoom Out’ buttons move the mapping display to the next defined zoom level, higher or lower, than the current view. The Zoom Slider allows the user to click and drag the slider up and down the range of available zoom levels. The ‘Zoom by Rectangle’ button allows the user to draw a rectangle on the map to which the map will zoom to. |
|
The default action for the map is 'Pan'. When in pan mode the mouse cursor looks like a vertical cross with arrow heads at each end. Clicking and holding the left mouse button down allows you to drag the map window to a new position. When in pan mode you can also double click the left mouse button over a new location. This will make the map zoom in to the next predetermined zoom level and it will also re-centre it over the position where you double clicked. | |
In the bottom right hand corner of the map window, the ‘Current position’ (British National Grid coordinates) are displayed. These will change as the mouse is moved around the map window. Next to this is the button ‘Overview’ button. When this button is clicked this will show an additional map view that is the current position on the map. Clicking this button again will deselect this feature. |
