Recycling wrapping paper and Christmas cards

Wrapping paper and Christmas cards can be recycled in your blue-lidded bin.

We cannot recycle foil wrapping paper, glittery wrapping paper, glittery cards, ribbons, bows and tape.

For a full list of what can be recycled please visit our recycling pages.

Extra recycling over Christmas?

Put extra recycling in a sturdy container or red box and place beside your blue-lidded wheeled bin. Please flatten or cut large cardboard in pieces no larger than 1m x 1m.

Side waste

We are not able to collect any side waste from your grey bin or food caddy. Please ensure that all waste is inside your bin. Top tips on reducing food waste at Christmas.

Christmas tree recycling

Recycling Christmas trees

We’ll be collecting real Christmas trees from 9 to 21 January 2025, and you don’t need to have a garden waste permit subscription to have yours collected. Please ensure that all lights and decorations have been removed from the tree. Any tree that is over 5ft tall must be cut in half.

Leave your tree outside in a place that’s not obstructing the highway, and we’ll collect it for you.

If you’re subscribed to the garden waste service, you can chop it up and put it in your bin.

Charity Christmas tree collections

Local volunteers are collecting real Christmas trees between 10 and 12 January 2025 in return for a donation to two charities they are supporting - The Myton Hospices and Pass the Smile.

You can register for your tree to be collected on the Just Helping website. Registration opens on Friday 15 November 2024.

Other ways to recycle your Christmas tree

You can also take your tree to the nearest recycling centre at Princes Drive in Leamington Spa or Cherry Orchard in Kenilworth (pre-booking is required).
