There has been a dramatic increase in dog thefts recently, so here are some simple tips to help keep your dog safe.

• Keep lots of good quality photos - front, back, sides and any distinguishing marks
• Ensure your dog is microchipped - make sure their details are registered and kept up to date
• Beware of social media - don't give away too much about your pets, including your location
• Always keep your dog in sight - never leave your dog in a vehicle, outside a shop or alone in the garden

You should report attempted thefts or suspicious activity directly to the Police.
