There are several ways to pay your business rates bill.

Direct debit

Sign up online to pay by direct debit. Most people pay by direct debit. You can choose to pay on the 1st, 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th or the 25th of the month. We can also take your details over the telephone on 01926 456760.

In person

Take your bill (with its barcode) and payment to any Post Office or PayPoint outlet. Payments made by cheque or credit/debit card at PayPoint are at the discretion of the retailer and may incur a charge.

Refunds

If you have overpaid your business rates, you will receive a bill saying that you are due a refund. We are only able to refund back to a bank account. How the refund is processed depends on how you pay your bill:

  • If you pay by direct debit - you do not need to do anything. We will automatically refund to the bank account details held on record
  • If you do not pay by direct debit - you need to complete the form - refund request for business rates overpayment

As part of the form, you will need to attach a copy of the front page of your bank statement or online banking for the account you wish the refund to be paid back to. This is a requirement to prevent and detect fraud, and without this we will be unable to issue your refund back to you. We do not require any personal transaction data.

If you are signed up for online access to your business rates account you can upload your proof via your online account.

Please note that none of the council offices have facilities for taking payments.
