As part of our 50th anniversary celebrations, we are seeking nominations from across the district for our unsung heroes who could be awarded Freedom of the District, which is the highest award that we can give.

Make a nomination

Look around you, think about the people you encounter at events and functions in the community.  Who stands out? Who is making it happen, and working tirelessly for the benefit of their cause? These are our unsung heroes, and you can nominate them!

The first category awards freemen or freewomen of the district to individuals. Nominations are for people who have a connection to the district, and are carrying out fund-raising, community or charitable activities and making a difference to the health, wellbeing and daily lives of those they support.

The second category is to recognise the achievements of past councillors and the contributions they have made to the growth and development of the district, or their impact on our community. They are awarded Aldermen or Women of the district.

Criteria

The process is simple, but there are certain criteria to follow. You can nominate individuals who are:

  1. Connected to Warwick district, either by the activities they do, or where they live.
  2. Working tirelessly in the interests of others, supporting their community and making a difference over several years.
  3. Deserving of the award, which is based on the appreciation of their endeavours.
  4. Good upstanding citizens, with no criminality in their history.

Nominations will be assessed confidentially, and individuals who are successfully nominated will be informed in writing by the Chairman of the Council.

A special Council meeting will be held to confirm the awards, with an official Chairman’s reception to present the awards at a later date.

Each person must receive two valid nominations to be considered for the award. These can be submitted together (for example, two signatures to a letter) or individually.
