The contract came to a close at the end of April 2020 during the lockdown imposed during the Covid 19 pandemic. Attempts have been made to test the market to see if other providers of this service are available and this has been unsuccessful. This is not unusual as this is specialised work that also requires local presence and excellent knowledge of the rural areas within Warwick District Council. Consideration has been given within the Housing Department to see if this service could be delivered in house but this option was rejected as it would prove a significant distraction to other essential services and would also require significant upskilling. As a result, the decision was made to direct award to the incumbent supplier for a further 2 year term.
