Winter fuel payment
We are urging pensioners to check if they are still entitled to the Winter Fuel Payment.
The winter fuel payment is now a means tested payment and will no longer be paid automatically to all pensioners. You can still get a payment if you were born before 23 September 1958 and receive one of the following
- Pension Credit
- Universal Credit
- income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
- income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
- Income Support.
It is estimated that there are up to 880,000 households in the UK who may be eligible for pension credit but have not claimed, the average pension credit award is worth £3,900 per year and opens up the door for other support including the Winter Fuel Payment.
