Housing benefit has been replaced with Universal Credit as of 17 October 2018.
Housing benefit is paid by local councils to help pay your rent. How much benefit you receive will depend on your circumstances and how much you have to pay.
Eligibility
You may still get Housing Benefit to help you pay your rent if you’re on a low income and:
- Are of State Pension Age or
- Are living in temporary accommodation, or specified accommodation where care and support is being provided
