Audible alarm key holders

Noise from audible intruder alarms are a frequent cause of complaint. If, upon investigation, the noise is judged to be a statutory nuisance, legal action may be taken by the Council against those responsible for the noise. It may also be necessary to obtain a warrant to enter your property and take whatever action is necessary to silence the alarm.

The costs of this would be re-charged to the persons responsible.

Please follow the simple guidance given below to ensure you do not cause a nuisance to your neighbours, and your alarm remains an effective deterrent against burglary.

  1. Ensure your alarm is properly installed and maintained to prevent false alarms.
  2. Ensure your alarm cuts out after 15 to 20 minutes, perhaps reverting to visual indicator.
  3. Maintain at least 2 keyholders who can visit to disable the alarm within 20 minutes of notification.
  4. Inform Warwick District Council of the name, address and telephone number of the keyholders
  5. Remember to notify the Council of changes to this information.
